Genuine Royal ALLOY GT150
The Genuine Scooter company has been a staple of Flying Tiger for nearly ten years. Their simplicity and reliability have been rivaled only by their attractive design and ease of ownership. Genuine continue to impress with the new edition to its scooter lineup, the Grand Tourer 150, shown here in the Royal Alloy trim. The GT150 is a metal-bodied touring scooter sporting a 150cc engine and an automatic transmission. Its styling is comparable to the classic Italian Lambretta scooters of the ’60s and ’70s with curved front fairing, long swept engine cowls, and sleek leather seat providing supple cushioning for both rider and pillion.
The first and most obvious appeal to the Royal Alloy is its striking, flowing lines, and subtle air of class. Sitting at 31.5 inches the GT150 is a long-legged scooter with a commanding stance. Look a bit closer and you’ll see touches of modern engineering all around the 72-inch frame including retractable passenger pegs, LED head and tail lighting, and a digital gauge cluster. The front suspension features twin dampers with coilover springs offering height and pre-load adjustability.
Power is delivered from the 150cc, carbureted, four-stroke single-cylinder engine through an automatic transmission. As the torque rolls on the speed smoothly increase, having a reported speed of 55+ and topping out around 70 mph*. Weighing in at 265 lbs, the GT150 is a stable and confident cruiser in many riding situations.
The benefits of owning a Genuine GT150 speak for themselves:
- Over 90 miles per gallon
- Low cost of ownership
- Simple riding characteristics, just twist and go
- Stable, dual front suspension design
- Speeds above 55 mph
- Multiple safety features

We know you have questions. Let’s answer some general questions to help you get more familiar.
DO I NEED A MOTORCYCLE LICENSE TO RIDE A SCOOTER?
Yes. In the State of Missouri, riding a scooter larger than 49cc requires a standard motorcycle endorsement. If you do not have a motorcycle endorsement you will need to complete your written and riding test at your local DMV.
DOES FLYING TIGER OFFER AN INSTRUCTIONAL RIDING A COURSE?
Our staff is happy to provide new riders with a basic introduction to safely operating your scooter at the time of purchase. In-depth riding courses are available at Forest Park Community College and can be scheduled by visiting the Motorcycle Riders Course page. We highly suggest this course for all riders, new and experienced alike.
AM I REQUIRED TO REGISTER MY SCOOTER AND GET A LICENSE PLATE?
Yes. In the State of Missouri, your scooter does require a standard motorcycle license plate and registration with the department of motor vehicles.
ARE ANY SALES OR PROPERTY TAXES OWED AFTER I PURCHASE A NEW OR PRE-OWNED SCOOTER?
Sales tax on all new scooters above 49cc is paid through the Department of Revenue at the time of registration. Property tax is assessable in the State of Missouri depending on your county.
DOES MY NEW SCOOTER COME WITH A TITLE?
New vehicles, including scooters, are shipped with an MSO or Manufacturers’ Certificate of Origin. This document serves as a record of manufacture for the specific vehicle including a vehicle identification number (VIN), place of manufacture, manufacturing date, vehicle weight, power, etc. This document serves in place of a title until the vehicle is registered if required to do so.
IS INSURANCE REQUIRED TO OPERATE MY SCOOTER ON PUBLIC ROADS?
You are legally required to carry at least liability insurance in the State of Missouri for a scooter greater in size than 49cc. Some riders do choose to insure their scooters for damage, loss, and personal injury. Check the local laws in your city or state and contact your insurance provider for details on how to protect yourself and your GT150!
SHOULD I WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR SUCH AS A HELMET OR LEATHER JACKET?
While we don’t expect you to adopt the black leather, patches, and metal spikes look right away, we do encourage all riders to protect themselves as best as they can. A DOT (department of transportation) rated helmet, protective clothing such as padded or armored jackets, gloves, and pants, all help to keep you safe when you’re out on the road.
ARE SCOOTERS AVAILABLE FOR TEST RIDES?
Normally, we have one or two scooters prepped and available for test rides. All you would need to provide is a valid driver’s license with an M (motorcycle) endorsement, and to read and sign a waiver of liability. Flying Tiger can provide helmets for test riding.
