SOLD: 1973 Triumph 750 Bonneville T140
1973 Triumph 750 Bonneville
The culmination of a transfomration among its model line, the T140 Bonneville brought to the street a few new standards for Triumph and for the Bonneville. As the company recovered from a months-long sit in staged by production workers over conditons and pay, the designers and management teams decided that taking their leading bike on an evolutionary journey is just what the brand needed to strengthen sales in its largest market, the United States.
Most notable was the displacement change. Up from the 650cc displacement of the T120, the T140V (of the latin “5”) as its known was raised to 724cc and paired with a new 5 speed gearbox. The engine remained a pushrod design with two valves per cylinder operated by pushrods and a gear driven cam set. The ‘oil in frame’ design remained as well, along with kick start, and vented drum brakes. Turn indicators were standardized.
This particular 750 has been very well maintained with minimal wear and tear from age. Starting is easy and quick. Newer Avon Roadriders show minimal wear. No major leaks or spills outide of those tyical for the ear and model.
